How ISRSA
began |
ISRSA is the principal means by
which Religious Studies teachers in independent schools in the United Kingdom
can keep in touch with each other, exchange views, and provide mutual support.
ISRSA
main activities are:

A
national conference: the next will be on September 29th
at the British Library.

Syllabus
and curriculum development: we have played a significant role
in the development of the new Common Entrance syllabus. We have also contributed
to QCA's work on the structure of the new A-level and AS level.

Regional
networks: one was held at Haileybury in November; another at
Manchester in March; and one is planned for the West country later this
year (the date will be announced shortly).

Liaison
with universities: a variety of university faculties have given
us invitations to arrange conferences and special open days. They are also
keen to receive our comment on the way in which their courses are perceived
by our pupils, both past and present.
To
support and sustain our membership and these activities in a
professional manner, we have appointed a part-time
administrator, Mrs Gill Badham. From now on all administrative
