Fryerns Community School is celebrating 60 years of education on its site this year, 1996-97. Previously it had been called the Fryerns Technical Grammar School which merged with Craylands Secondary School, following the reorganisation of secondary education in the area. In 1994-95, the name was changed again, from Fryerns School to Fryerns Community School, to reflect the new commitment to meeting the needs of the local community and to involve a wide group of people in the vital use of the excellent resources of the school.
