accommodation and facilities

The school is entirely housed within one compact set of buildings. We have accommodation for up to 600 pupils making us a small comprehensive school but with a full range of facilities as befits a much larger school.

The three storey block houses our newest computer suite, Business Studies and Mathematics, together with some administrative offices and staff room. This tower block also houses our new Fitness Centre, open to the public 7 days a week.

A refurbished older building round the courtyard (which itself is being developed for pupil use) contains our Science laboratories, Modern Languages, English and Expressive Arts Faculty including a Music Studio, practice rooms, Drama Studio, Art and Ceramics workshop, new computer room and our “European and Business Super Highway Centre” (with Internet connecting us to the rest of the world).

The remodeled technology block is where students work with hard materials (wood metal and plastic) and Home Economics (food and other soft materials) operates in the main block.

The refurbishment of the block has produced large, light teaching rooms linked by corridors which now house student lockers. The lockers provide for security and storage. Many rooms are now carpeted. The school is committed to a planned re-decoration and upgrading programme.

In addition to the normal student use of the school during the day, it is also used in the evenings by Adult Education classes.

The main Hall is adjacent to the tower block and houses the main kitchen area, which is available for light meals and snacks at break-time and lunch. This is now also open in the morning for our Breakfast Club from 8.00am, to provide students with a nutritious meal on which to start the day. The hall is used for school productions and concerts, and is also available for hire at certain times.

The gymnasium, changing rooms and showers are very accessible, modern and well equipped. The recently re-decorated Sports Hall, which is approached by a link corridor, is marked for indoor use so that students may play net ball, five-a-side football, basketball, badminton and cricket, as well as perform dance and health related fitness routines.

The school has sufficient playing fields for six full size pitches. We also have two sets of tennis and net ball courts - in fact we have sports facilities to serve a much larger school.

We have invested heavily in your child’s future and are still seeking ways of developing further. We have just installed two new computer room so that all subject areas have easy access to this important facility. All students follow courses which develop computer skills.
