The Curriculum
The governors and staff of Castle Rock have secured a curriculum that leads to academic success and enhanced career opportunities, while helping to create good citizenship.
The curriculum is broad, balanced and relevant.
All pupils have access to the whole range of curricular activities.
The school involves the community in all aspects of curriculum planning and delivery.
The curriculum aims to be interesting, challenging and enjoyable.
All children follow a broad range of subjects which satisfy National Curriculum requirements.
Pupils study 30 lessons a week each of 50 minutes.
Twice a year we have Applied Studies Weeks which offer extended curriculum enrichment opportunities involving practical field work, foreign residential visits and links with the community.
The school is one of the first schools in the country to pilot a Student Support Centre which helps integrate those pupils who find school-life difficult.
