Ever dig the garden for your granny? Do the shopping for a neighbour? Passed any survival grades? Got your cycling proficiency certificate? Raised some sponsorship money? Done well in a competition as an individual or as a team member?
Well, if so, you could earn points both in and out of school, which would lead to a Community Award Certificate, bronze, silver, gold and gold star.
This scheme is to help make you a responsible citizen by becoming aware of your abilities, needs of others and good use of your time.
The school views the community as the most valuable resource which can contribute enormously to the education of our pupils. It is our sincere wish that a feeling of ownership of the school should develop within the community.
The education of our pupils rests on the close partnership between the school and parent. We welcome with open arms those parents who have the time to contribute to the life of the school through the curriculum or in any other way.
Close collaboration between ourselves and industry is facilitated by our work with the Education Business Partnership. Our Applied Studies programme provides the opportunity for members of the community and parents to contribute their skills and experience to the classroom in a practical way. A unique feature of the schools commitment to the community is the Dunlop - Castle Rock Community Award Scheme.
The scheme in combination with Citizenship lessons encourages pupils to contribute to their local, national & international communities, and acknowledges their achievements.
Our flourishing PTA offers the opportunity for parents and friends of the school to raise funds for the purchase of additional resources and to take part in social events with staff.
